Women’s Hormone Health FAQs
Answers to common questions about hormone evaluations, BHRT, menopause and personalized hormone care at V.E.W. Health.
-
V.E.W. Health provides physician-directed women’s hormone health care through our locations in Las Vegas, Nevada and Rio Rancho, New Mexico. Our approach begins with a comprehensive evaluation to better understand your health, symptoms and individual needs before treatment options are discussed.
-
Your evaluation begins with a conversation about your health history, symptoms and concerns. Appropriate laboratory testing may also be used to help your provider better understand your hormone levels and related health markers. Your results are then reviewed with you and, when appropriate, used to develop an individualized treatment plan.
-
Perimenopause is the transition leading up to menopause, when hormone levels can fluctuate and symptoms may begin. Menopause is reached when a woman has gone 12 consecutive months without a menstrual period. Changes during the menopause transition can include hot flashes, night sweats, sleep difficulties and vaginal symptoms, although experiences vary from woman to woman.
-
BHRT stands for bioidentical hormone replacement therapy and generally refers to hormones that have the same chemical and molecular structure as hormones produced by the body. Importantly, “bioidentical” does not necessarily mean compounded. FDA-approved hormone therapies can also contain bioidentical hormones. The appropriate therapy depends on your symptoms, medical history, risks and individual clinical needs.
-
Women may seek an evaluation after noticing changes in sleep, energy, mood, menstrual cycles, metabolism, sexual health or overall well-being. Hot flashes and night sweats are also common during the menopause transition. These experiences can have multiple causes, so symptoms alone do not establish that a hormonal issue is responsible. A clinical evaluation can help determine appropriate next steps.
-
No. Hormone therapy is not appropriate for everyone, and treatment should be individualized. A healthcare professional considers factors such as your symptoms, age, medical history, family history, personal preferences and potential benefits and risks before recommending treatment.
-
Hormone pellets are one method of delivering hormone therapy. Whether any hormone treatment or delivery method is appropriate should be determined after reviewing your symptoms, medical history, potential risks and available alternatives with a qualified healthcare provider. At V.E.W. Health, treatment recommendations are individualized rather than based on a one-size-fits-all approach.

You can request an appointment with V.E.W. Health online or contact our Las Vegas, Nevada or Rio Rancho, New Mexico location. V.E.W. Health also offers telehealth appointments for eligible services and patients.
